Phi Theta Kappa Part-Time Scholarship
(for new part-time students only)A varying number of renewable scholarships are
available, totaling $2,500 per academic year. A 3.5 GPA and 30 credit hours are
required. The student must enroll immediately following two-year college and must
be enrolled in a degree-seeking program. The award is renewable for no more than
seven semesters. The number of semesters for renewal will be based on the student's
grade level upon enrollment to Villanova. Non-US citizens, and students with previous
bachelors' degrees are not eligible.

Ardeth Josephson Scholarship for Part-Time Studies Students
Villanova University invites students who are matriculated into Part-Time Studies
to apply for, or consider applying for the Ardeth Josephson Scholarship.
This scholarship was established in 1980 with the purpose of awarding assistance
to a Villanova Part-Time Studies student with strong scholastic ability who has
financial need. This is an annual award with the amount to be determined by the
income generated by the endowment. Students must file the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need.

Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship
The Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) adult student honor society invites part-time
students to apply for a limited number of $1,200 national and $1,500 Triangle
Club/Second Century ASL Scholarships.
The Alpha Sigma Lambda Adult Education Foundation awards grants to adult students
in continuing higher education based upon scholarship, leadership, clarity and content
of personal statement, strength of recommendation, and need.
Applying students must: attend an institution with an active ASL chapter, be
24 years of age or older, be matriculated in an undergraduate degree program, and have completed 30 credits at Villanova with at least a 3.2 GPA.
Applicants do NOT have to be an ASL member. The maximum award per student will be determined

American Business Women's Association
The ABWA is a group of business and professional women whose primary function
is to help women in financial need to further their education. Scholarships are
awarded on the basis of need and scholastic ability to undergraduate, full-time
students who have completed 30 credit hours with a 3.0 GPA by May 2000. Applicants
must reside in and attend college in Bucks, Chester , Montgomery , or Philadelphia
counties. Two local chapters, the New Directions Charter Chapter of Warminster,
and the New Endeavors Charter Chapter, award the scholarships. Applications must

American Society of Women Accountants
The American Society of Women Accountants awards two $1,500, one $2,000 and one
$2,500 scholarships, funded by the Educational Foundation of AWSCPA-ASWA. In addition,
at least two additional scholarships will be awarded from the Philadelphia Chapter.
These scholarships are available to full-time or part-time undergraduate accounting
majors and are based upon academic achievement, financial need, and aptitude in
accounting courses. The student must have completed 60 semester hours with a declared
accounting major. You do not have to be an ASWA member. For applications, contact:

Business and Professional Women's Foundation
Since l970 more than 7,000 scholarships totaling over $4.5 million dollars have
been awarded through the BPW Foundation. These scholarships are awarded to female
students 25 and over with critical financial need who are seeking higher education.

BPW Career Advancement Scholarship Program
Since l969 BPW has offered several need-based scholarships through its Career
Advancement Scholarship Program to mature women seeking the education necessary
for entry or re-entry into the workforce or advancement within a career field. Scholarships
ranging from $500 to $1,000 are awarded for full-time or part-time study in the
fields of computer science, teacher education certification, social science, humanities,
business, science, or engineering. To be eligible, a woman must be 25 years of age
or older, have critical financial need, be officially accepted into an accredited
program, be graduating within 12-24 months, and must be preparing to upgrade skills
for career advancement, train for a new career, or enter or re-enter the job market.
Application forms are available ONLY between January 1 and April 1 with a submission
deadline of April 15. For further information and application forms, send a self-addressed

Jeannette Rankin Foundation Awards
The Jeannette Rankin Foundation awards grants of $2,000 each fall to low-income
women, age 35 or older as of March 1 in the year of application. Students must be
pursuing a technical/vocational education, an associate's degree, or a first bachelor's
degree at an accredited school. Visit the website to view the low-income guidelines.
Applications are available from November through March of each year. During these
months, visit the website www.rankinfoundation.org/apply/apply.html to download
the application, or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to request the application
by mail. The deadline is March 1, the recipients are selected by July 1, and the

Kemp Scholarship
This program is open to minority group women who wish to continue their education
on the undergraduate, graduate, professional, or vocational level. They must be
members of the Lutheran Church in America . Only women who have had their schooling
interrupted are considered. Selection is based on academic ability, financial need,
educational goals, and Christian commitment. The award varies but generally does
not exceed $1,500 per year. Deadline is February of each year. Contact: Women of

Main Line Business and Professional Women's Organization
This organization has created the Fanny L. M. Hawkins Memorial Scholarship for
continuing business education. Of varying amounts, the scholarship is available
to individuals over 21 years of age who desire additional education to further develop
a business career. Qualifications include high school diploma, residency in the
Greater Delaware Valley area, financial need, employment for two years since high
school graduation, and evidence of sincerity, dedication, and career-mindedness
in pursuing increasing job skills and responsibility. Applications can be obtained

Mensa Scholarship Program
The Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship Program is open to any
student who is enrolled, for the academic year following the award, in a degree
program in an accredited American institution of postsecondary education. Applicants
must write an essay on their career, academic or vocational goals. Membership in
MENSA is not required. Awards are made on the local, regional, and national levels
and are non-renewable. There are specific awards/scholarships for: females returning
to school after 7 years or more and for students majoring in education, liberal
arts, teaching English, biology, and computer sciences. Deadline is January 31 of

National DAR Scholarship
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsors the
Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship each year which is awarded to male or female
students entering the junior or senior year of college who are majoring in political
science, history, or economics. It is a one-time award of $1,000, and no affiliation
with DAR is necessary. However, all applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship
from a local DAR chapter. Awards are judged on the basis of academic excellence,
commitment to field of study, and need. Applications can be obtained, by enclosing
a self-addressed stamped envelope and a self-addressed stamped post card, from:

Paul Douglas Teacher Scholarship Program
This scholarship is administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance
Agency (PHEAA) to encourage academically talented students to enter the pre-school,
elementary, or secondary teaching fields. Applicants must be PA residents; evidence
high academic achievement, including a rank in the top 10% of the high school graduating
class; and must be recommended by a school official. Recipients must sign an agreement
to teach in a pre-school, elementary, or secondary school for a period of not less
than two years for each year for which the scholarship was given. The scholarships
are for $5,000. The deadline is May 1. For application forms and further information,

Soroptimist Awards
Soroptimist International, through its Training Awards Program (TAP), annually
offers cash awards of up to $3000 to 54 mature women who, as heads of households,
must enter or return to the job market or further their skills and training to upgrade
their employment status. Recipients are chosen on the basis of financial need as
well as the statement of clear career goals. Applications are available from local
participating Soroptimist Clubs whose listings can be secured from the telephone
directory, Chamber of Commerce directory, League of Women Voters, or City Hall.

year with the official deadline of December 15. Soroptimist International is the
world's largest classified service organization for professional and executive business
women with 50,000 members in 22 countries.
Upper Merion Business and Professional Women's Organization
This organization awards scholarships to women applicants from the Upper Merion
School District for the purpose of continuing their education. For information contact

Women of the ELCA Scholarship Program
The Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America provides Scholarships
for Lutheran Lay Women who are members of an ELCA congregation, 21 years or older,
who have experienced an interruption in schooling of at least two years since the
completion of high school, and who are studying for a career other than a church-certified
profession. Awards are based on the applicant's scholastic ability, financial need,
clarity of educational goals, and Christian commitment. The maximum scholarship
grant will be $2,000. The scholarship recipient may apply again; however, scholarship
assistance is available for a maximum of two years. Applicant must provide written
confirmation of admission to an educational institution. Application and supporting
materials are due postmarked no later than February 15 with notification by the
